Aeonic God, Baalphometh by lvl9Drow Aeonic God, Baalphometh by lvl9Drow
This is the Aeonic God/Goddess Baalphometh. He/she is strongly based on Baphomet, the symbolic alchemical composite figure. And much like Baphomet he/she is a hermaphrodite and is the deity of alchemy, intelligence, inspiration, enlightenment and creativeness, philosophy and is the deity that rules over the aeonic beings known as the daemon who take after her/his own philosophical viewpoint. He/she is either Neutral Good or Chaotic Good, I haven't settled yet. but she/he is not evil, which is also a tragedy on the real life Baphomet being percieved as evil. As a side note he/she was neither evil or a deity, let alone a demon, but an idea, a symbol. I am a huge fan of Baphomet, even though I am Atheist.

Back to the fantasy make believe Baalphometh; In Mid-World Baalphometh resides in Purgetory and was kicked out of Heaven by Deos. this is why he/she and the daemon no longer look angelic, however their pure souls and mind prevented them from becoming a truly corrupted looking demonic form, as what happened to Licus. This doesn't daunt her/him as (I'm just going to refer to this god as a SHE) she believes goodness is from within. She helped Licus, god of rebellion, escape the shackles of hell and was also herself saved from falling completely to hell by Mithra, a strong ally of hers.

I posed Baalphometh similar to Shiva in his cosmic dance. I also gave her very universal alchemical symbols and the traditional Baphomet symbolism like the Chessed moon and the moon of Gebura, the spirit of intellect above her head (which i gave to all the aeonic gods) and the Caduceus snakes, or hermetic serpents, only their not around her penis and instead terminate at her third eye like in traditional tantric Buddhist mysticism. Hope you guys like, this is one of my favorites.

Edit: I almost forgot, this picture was forged to the music of Tool 10,000 days. I thought it would be appropriate to the content. You should see what's being forged to Opeth, he's a feisty one.

I've always liked the idea of dynamism, of having a deity or power which is neither fully good or evil. Sure, black and white morals can be good for certain characters and can make a story interesting, but grey is by and large the dominant. It makes them so much easier to relate to, because we ourselves have great qualities and huge flaws.

Well, he/she is Neutral Good I think. No one evil or greedy would worship. Although anyone can venerate Baalphometh if they are an Alchemist.

Very nice. I think that what really drives me in is all the little symbols, parchment, and, specially, the little writings. I fully understand that they are written in the ancient language of Bullshit Script, but they really look that it's *something* written, and not just random marks and symbols. I like this kind of detail!

Try scanning it in two parts then combine both at the overlap. Photoshop is able to do that automatically.

No Photoshop. I'll try rescanning it though.

You could try any other graphics program if it allows a multiply layer.

Try that and fiddling with canvas size. I forget if it supports blending layers. The trick is to scan same picture twice with different portions missing and then patiently combine them into one. Some of my largest images were produced this way after scanning. The large serpentine dragon for example. It wasn't done in Photoshop. Sketchbook Pro is good and not expensive, but free is free.

You know anything about Picmarkr? It's supposed to be a free watermark program. Want to know if I can trust it or if it's any good.

I really like this. The composition and "her" serenity in thought exude an aura of calm and recollection. "Don't disturb me. I'm thinking thoughts far more important than you can imagine. Unless, of course, you've got knowledge to share...?" ;)

I write it how I feel it. Your composition has a completely different "feel" from the demonic pictures drawn of Baphomet to discredit the deity. This I could see wise men venerating in cool recollection. Without any blood anywhere. :D

Right, the Knights Templar were into Alchemy and Philosophy they learned abroad, really intelligent and  enlightening stuff. It is said they started venerating the Alchemichal composite symbolic creature Baphomet that they discovered. It turns out it wasn't a demonic entity at all. In fact, it wasn't even Christian.

On a side note: I always love it how Christians feel they have the right to demonize gods, beings and theologies from other religions than their own, as if they had the right and even knew anything about the other religion or gods. So the Ishtar, Germanic Horned God, Pan and his Satyrs are now Lilith, Satan and demons just because they say so. They were never of these pagan beliefs themselves, but somehow they have the knowledge and the authority to say that they were od the devil.

yeah, I used to hate it when my scanner would cut things off.  I hardly use it anymore, since I mostly work digitally now (what little "work" I manage to produce).

This one is my favorite so far, as well.

If I may mention it, the ears in the close up portrait look a bit smaller than presented here.

The bird talons in a bat wing formation is an awesome idea.  Did you come up with that?

Did you see the old Baphomet drawing I did? I made very similar wings.

Hmm now that you mention it I do seem to remember that from a long while back when I first looked at your gallery.  I'll take a look.
